Berkeley is launching The Halo at Oval Village, with unique views directly over The Kia Oval cricket ground.

This Grade II Listed ironwork stands over 130 feet tall and has been out of use since 2014. Since the Victorian era, the gasholder’s distinctive silhouette has become an iconic and integral feature of London’s landscape.

The Halo will comprise 199 new homes, including 18 penthouses. Every home will encompass high specification and design expertise and comes with a private balcony or terrace. Penthouses will offer private terraces overlooking the ground next door.

Set within the iconic circular wrought-iron frame of the gasholder structure, the flats at The Halo have open-plan layouts, vast glazing and a premium specification.

Hotel-style amenities will be located at The 1847 Club, a name that honours the year that the gasholder was originally constructed. Spanning two floors, residents will enjoy a 24-hour concierge, swimming pool, gym, spa and treatment rooms, privatecinema and residents’ lounge.

There’s also a fifth-floor rooftop terrace, which boasts views of the adjacent cricket ground.

The wider Oval Village development has 2.5 acres of green space and the Central Plaza will feature a living wall of greenery.

There will also be office and retail space, with Oval Works – the 76,000 sq ft flagship commercial building – already sold to Landsec.

The neighbourhood is served by the Northern Line, with trains reaching Bank in nine minutes, and the Victoria Line. Victoria can be reached in four minutes, and Oxford Circus in nine minutes. Trains from Zone 1 Kennington, an 11-minute walk away, stop at Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station.

According to property consultancy Dataloft, Oval has benefitted from a 34% rental growth over a two-year period, strongly outperforming Battersea and Nine Elms (15%), Greater London overall (15%) and the Transport for London Zone 1 average (9%).

Dataloft has found that homes within 500m of heritage sporting venues can command a premium of up to 19%, while analysis on prices paid at Kings Cross Gasholders found that buyers can pay up to 79% more to live in an iconic gasholder structure.

The first release of apartments, duplex homes and penthouses launches on June 7.

Prices start from £580,000 for a Manhattan apartment, £690,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, £900,000 for a two-bedroom apartment, £1,550,000 for a three-bedroom apartmentand £2,650,000 for a penthouse. First completions from Q1/Q2 2028.
