A fairytale village celebrated for its ‘alpine feel’ has been named as North Wales’s most lucrative spot to invest in a holiday let, with homeowners earning an average yearly income of more than £30,000.
According to the latest data from Holidaycottages. co.uk, bookings for properties in Betws-y-Coed rose by 29% in the last 12 months, making it one of the region’s most sought-after holiday destinations.
On average, holiday let owners in Betws-y-Coed are securing £33,000 in revenue per year, with factors such as accepting shorter stays and having a hot tub boosting earnings. Pet-friendly properties and those with an enclosed garden are also likely to attract more bookings.
Research by the company has revealed other locations across North Wales proving popular include Colwyn Bay, Denbigh, Ruthin, and Barmouth are also proving popular.
Joby Mussell, the firm’s chief commercial officer, says: “We’re continuing to see a strong demand for UK staycations and as a result, the long-term revenue opportunities for holiday homeowners is greater than ever. This is particularly the case in North Wales.
“North Wales is a stunning location to enjoy an extended break thanks to its dramatic coastline, thrilling mountain scenery, and fascinating history. Whilst places like Aberseoch, Anglesey and Aberdovey continue to prove popular, locations such as Betws-y-Coed, Colwyn Bay, Denbigh, and Ruthin which have lower density of holiday lets are performing exceptionally well – showcasing that there is headroom for growth in visitor numbers.
“What’s interesting to see is that inland holiday homes are equally as popular as coastal homes, with the average yearly revenue of a coastal property sitting at £23,718, while that of a rural property is £23,098.
“What’s more, almost three quarters (72%) of bookings in the past 12 months did not include children, with the highest number of bookings made by groups of two people. This highlights the sheer scope of opportunities within the holiday lettings market and how demand is there regardless of being inland or costal based, one bed cottages or six bed barn conversions.”
The full list of North Wales’s most successful hotspots is as follows: 1. Betws-y-Coed; 2. Coldwyn Bay; 3. Denbigh; 4. Ruthin; 5. Barmouth; 6. Conwy; 7. Abersoch; 8. Aberdaron.
Holidaycottages says linking these locations is a wealth of attractions, breathtaking scenery, and cool, modern comforts, therefore highlighting what people want from a staycation and, subsequently, where to invest to maximise your return on investment.
